Weekend Reflections: 2014 Bay Area College Football Media Day

010Wednesday, July 30 was the setting for the official start of college football in the Bay Area as the Seventh Annual Bay Area College Football Media Day took place at the brand new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. San Jose State was represented at the festivities with Head Coach Ron Caragher, Senior center David Peterson and Senior wide receiver Jabari Carr. All three men looked ready to begin a 2014 season that will have San Jose State on national television a school record ten times. Adding to the festivities was the setting itself, beautiful Levi’s Stadium. More on the stadium later. Game Recap: San Jose State 62 Fresno State 52

021What a game. This was one for the ages that will be talked about for years to come. San Jose State beat #16 Fresno State on Black Friday 62-52 in a wild, wild game. This was one of the biggest wins in school history. Records were broken. Dreams were dashed and renewed. And for a home game, the majority of those who came to the game went home unhappy. Gameday Preview: San Jose State vs. Fresno State

Later today, the Spartans will renew their rivalry with Fresno State. This game has been much anticipated since both teams’ schedules were released before the start of the season. The game is on Black Friday and is nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. The game also pits two rivals against each other. Adding to the hype is the fact that Fresno State is good. Really good. The Bulldogs are ranked #16 in the BCS and a win ensures them an undefeated season and a possible BCS Bowl game berth. For San Jose State, they must win to have any shot at a bowl. Continue reading

Gameday Preview: San Jose State vs. Navy

Tonight San Jose State takes on the Navy Midshipmen. This is a must win for the Spartans. Win and the Spartans have a good shot at being selected for a bowl game regardless of the result of their contest with Fresno State next week. A loss and the Spartans likely will not go bowling unless they pull off a major upset against the Bulldogs. This is a chance the Spartans do not want to take. Continue reading

Gameday Preview: San Jose State vs. San Diego State

Tomorrow night the Spartans welcome the Aztecs to San Jose in a big Mountain West game for both teams. The game is especially significant for San Jose State as the team needs only one more victory to become bowl eligible. Although the Spartans should be favored at home, San Diego State does pose a threat as they almost defeated Fresno State and last season played the Spartans tough. Continue reading

San Jose State continued to roll in Las Vegas with a big 34 -24 win on Saturday. The Spartans are now 5-3 and poised to make a run at a spot in the Mountain West title game.
