Game Recap: San Jose State 62 Fresno State 52

What a game. This was one for the ages that will be talked about for years to come. San Jose State beat #16 Fresno State on Black Friday 62-52 in a wild, wild game. This was one of the biggest wins in school history. Records were broken. Dreams were dashed and renewed. And for a home game, the majority of those who came to the game went home unhappy. The following post tries to make sense of all the greatness that was San Jose State vs. Fresno State 2013.

Gameday Preview: San Jose State vs. Fresno State

Later today, the Spartans will renew their rivalry with Fresno State. This game has been much anticipated since both teams’ schedules were released before the start of the season. The game is on Black Friday and is nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. The game also pits two rivals against each other. Adding to the hype is the fact that Fresno State is good. Really good. The Bulldogs are ranked #16 in the BCS and a win ensures them an undefeated season and a possible BCS Bowl game berth. For San Jose State, they must win to have any shot at a bowl.

Game Recap: Navy 58 San Jose State 52

Well, this one was a heart-breaker. The Spartans pushed Navy to the limit, but still lost in a triple overtime thriller, 58 – 52. David Fales made one mistake all game, an interception in the last overtime. That was all it took for San Jose State to fall.

Gameday Preview: San Jose State vs. Navy

Tonight San Jose State takes on the Navy Midshipmen. This is a must win for the Spartans. Win and the Spartans have a good shot at being selected for a bowl game regardless of the result of their contest with Fresno State next week. A loss and the Spartans likely will not go bowling unless they pull off a major upset against the Bulldogs. This is a chance the Spartans do not want to take.

Game Recap: Nevada 38 San Jose State 16

In a must win game on the road, San Jose State was defeated soundly. The Nevada Wolf Pack dominated the Spartans in Reno and now San Jose State must win at least one of their remaining two games to become bowl eligible.

Tonight the Spartans travel east on Interstate 80 to face the Nevada Wolf Pack. Nevada is in the midst of a terrible season and this is a game San Jose State should win. More to the point, it’s a game San Jose State must win. 

Game Recap: San Diego State 34 San Jose State 30

Well this one hurt. The Spartans snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a four point loss to San Diego State last Saturday. San Jose State seemed in control most of the game, but a key momentum swing did in the men from San Jose.

Tomorrow night the Spartans welcome the Aztecs to San Jose in a big Mountain West game for both teams. The game is especially significant for San Jose State as the team needs only one more victory to become bowl eligible. Although the Spartans should be favored at home, San Diego State does pose a threat as they almost defeated Fresno State and last season played the Spartans tough.

Game Recap: San Jose State 34 UNLV 24

San Jose State continued to roll in Las Vegas with a big 34 -24 win on Saturday. The Spartans are now 5-3 and poised to make a run at a spot in the Mountain West title game. There are three in-conference games left for the Spartans. If they win all three games, the Spartans will find themselves in the title game.

Gameday Preview: San Jose State vs. UNLV

Tomorrow San Jose State travels to Sin City to take on the UNLV Rebels. This will be an interesting challenge for the Spartans as the Rebels have won 5 of 6 and need only one more victory to become bowl eligible. Last week UNLV picked up a huge win against rival Nevada, which could provide an opening for San Jose State to sneak up on a Rebel team that may be susceptible to a let down game.
