The Spartans picked up another huge victory against Colorado State on Saturday and improved to .500 on the season. David Fales had his best game of the season, as he completed 28 of 35 passes for over 400 yards. Bené Benwikere had a successful return from a concussion with an interception on defense. In what is becoming common place for the men from San José, the defense tightened up yet again in the second half, holding the Rams to three second half points.Jarrod Lawson, the freshman running back, is emerging as a major play maker as he rushed for 98 yards just one week after a breakout performance against Hawai’i. The walk-on seems to have given the Spartans the running threat it desperately needed during the first half of the season. San José State now enters a bye week in very good shape. Homecoming is October 26th against Wyoming, a game the Spartans should win. They head to Las Vegas a week later to take on UNLV and then return home again to face San Diego State. By the end of this three game swing, San José State may be 6-3 and likely would need only one more victory to ensure a bowl birth. Now is the time for San José State to make a major statement. The season may rest on this next month. Stay tuned for an analysis and preview of the second half of the season.
