The Spartans travel to Hawai’i to play the Rainbow Warriors late Saturday night (9PM PST). This is a must win game for San Jose State. There is no other way to put it. Hawai’i is 0-4 this season and may be the worst team in the Mountain West. The Warriors may also be much better than people think as they took Fresno State to the limit in a 42-37 loss. Even so, one must keep in mind that Hawai’i had to score 34 unanswered points to make the game that close. San Jose State is banged up. Both wide receivers Noel Grigsby and Jabari Carr are out leaving Chandler Jones as the go to target for David Fales. The running game for the Spartans will have to step up as well. The defense, which has struggled against the run all season, will likely go into Hawai’i without Bené Benwikere. Benwikere was taken off the field on a stretcher against Utah State after a scary collision. Luckily he only suffered a concussion but is doubtful for the contest tomorrow. This doesn’t bode well for a defense that needs all the help it can get. If the Spartans want to turn their season around, it’d be a good idea to start with a win in Hawai’i.
